Alex and Molly were married on May 23rd, with a ceremony and reception at Mountain Springs Lodge in Leavenworth, WA.
My second shooter for this wedding was Kailey from Kaily Shakespear Photography (www.kaileyshakespear.com), and I was so grateful to have her along. We were able to get some amazing shots, with great lighting and the best subjects. When there is real intimacy like Alex and Molly have, it’s easy to get those beautiful shots, especially in moments like the butterfly release and the father/daughter interactions.
Here are some of the highlights from this wedding!
Favorite Ceremony Moment
During the ceremony, Alex and Molly did a butterfly release, which was meant to symbolize things like grace, growth, expansion, elegance, surrender, transition, and celebration. Each of those things describe exactly what each person needs to bring to a marriage. Each element is a part of a whole to share in a journey through life.
I genuinely love when couples add unique details like this to give their ceremony their own personal touch, and as a photographer, I have to say I definitely prefer butterflies over doves. They fly slower and are easier to capture. ;)
Most Unique Detail
Alex and Molly gave away miniature succulents as their wedding ‘thank you’ gift, in part because of their passion for all that is living and green and their respect for the earth and all it provides for us. These gifts were darling and thoughtful, addressed to each guest personally and handed out as their table assignments when they entered the reception.
Most Memorable Moment
During the reception, Alex and Molly asked everyone to gather around the dance floor because Alex wanted to do a special dance with the whole group. When this kind of thing happens, half the time, I don’t know what to expect—especially when that dance is called the Banana Dance.
I know you’re probably wondering: “A Banana Dance? What the heck is that?” I wondered that same thing, but I soon discovered that it is a kids’ song and dance that, when done by grownups, complete with yelling and huge, energetic body movements, is hilarious! Alex delivered the dance with so much gusto, enthusiasm, and comedic style that he brought the house down! Everyone was joining in and laughing up a storm.
My Quote for This Couple
"A strong marriage rarely has two strong people at the same time. It is a husband and wife who take turns being strong for each other in the moments when the others feels weak. " - Ashley Willis
Kind Words from Molly & alex
"Maija and her colleague were fantastic! They were so fun that they made the whole picture process so easy and relaxed! I would hire them again in a heartbeat!"
